Discuss why there has been a resurgence in social upheaval about controversial political and social topics that weren’t an issue or controversial topic a decade ago.

There has been a resurgence of social problems which a decade ago was not these rampant. A social upheaval is an occurrence where it is beyond personal control since it affects a large number of members of the society. Some of the social upheavals can be solved by huge members of the society affected and the members of the society who caused it knowingly or unknowingly.  There are a number of social upheavals actively taking place and fueled by human greed for wealth or for power. Some of the major ones witnessed in our current society are the rampant number of homeless people. The people who are faced with these social upheavals were once members of a society working and living a decent life until they lost their jobs and failed to pay their bills. Also, these can be brought about by lack of proper housing which is affordable. An individual can be turned homeless after losing his/her business to fraudsters or also through court cases. Such as divorce which can make the man be bankrupt because of paying child support and maintenance. The rampant divorce cases in the near past have caused a lot of families to break which makes many people homeless after the bitter case courts followed by depression.

Greed for power can also be attributed to why there is a lot of social upheavals in some parts of the world. War is a social upheaval which is brought about by greed for power, it’s not a natural or biological issue its fueled by individuals who want power. A good example is what is currently happening in Syria where different groups were fighting to have control of the country which resulted to more social upheavals of rape, slavery, raise in refugee numbers and many more. Also, there has been millions of deaths and loose of property in the conflict, the social fabric which was followed by the communities was thrown to the dogs because of power-hungry tyrants. Libya has also suffered its share of social upheavals brought by these power hungry individuals. The country has been divided and pisses on for years now after the death of their then president Gaddafi. There was even a documentary showing live slave trade happening in Libya and also many women and kids have been abused, Libya has been turned into a jungle of death and survival.
The high cost of living has caused social upheavals. There is a lot of struggle for millions of people to catch up with inflations hitting the world economy over the past decade. Turning many individuals to turn to nasty practices such as prostitution, robbery, human trafficking, drug abuse and drug peddling so as to make ends meet. These social upheavals have broken many families and have caused immense suffering to the people. Also, rampant corruption has caused social upheavals to happen, the politicians elected by the people have a tendency of turning against its people and selling the nation's resources to higher bidders. They are the best description for man eat man society, where they plunder the national resources and taxes paid by the common citizen hoping for the betterment of their living conditions only to be benefited from the few ruling classes of their nation.
